The Empress Hotel is the icon of Victoria. For that extra special getaway I would recommend a night at this iconic property, a horse drawn carriage tour and afternoon tea. You can't get more Victorian than that! But seriously, this is a beautiful property (the rooms are a little small) but the history, design & atmosphere make up for the lack of size. Going along Broadway I have noticed the restaurant many times and finally decided to drop in for brunch to give it a go. We sat outside, we didn't mind waiting for a table there. Service was fine and the food came fairly soon. I had an excellent smoked ham benedict which came with cubed fries and a very fresh salad. Read more

We had a lovely table by the window so we had a nice view. Overall ambience is very bright and contemporary. To our benefit the restaurant was not that busy on a weeknight and we parked very close. The service was very good. We enjoyed their daily flatbread special and crab cakes to start. For our mains we went with halibut and osso bucco, both too were very good and cooked just right.
