This place was unbelievable. The wine selection is huge, and the food is to die for. The views of the falls are unmatched. The appetizer was SO delicious and the main course was even better. I ordered the salmon, and it was cooked to perfection. I can't think of another way to describe this place, other than perfect. The server was attentive (except the water boy was slow), and always made sure we were enjoying ourselves. Our bill for the two of us was $280 so it is a little on the pricey side, but definitely worth it if you are visiting the Niagara region. Visited Claudio's with family last night for our 25th Anniversary dinner. Every detail was perfect from the greeting at the door by the owners/chef, the private table, the attentive service and last but not least, the amazing food. Some really nice touches such as bringing out a few bottles of recommended wines for us to choose from. Our waiter, Ignatio suggested that he bring out a tasting plate of chef Kristina's beef shortrib stuffed ravioli for all of us to try. Great suggestion! It was one of the tastiest raviolis I have eaten. We all thoroughly enjoyed the food, wine and overrall dining experience. There is a part of the culinary world that values presentation, new combinations of ingredients, and the avant-garde over good flavours. I have heard it said as almost a criticism on cooking shows that the chef “just” makes really delicious food. Blacktree definitely belongs to that school of thought. I found the meal to be a tour de force of form over substance. The presentations were beautiful, I could see that a lot of work went into the dishes, but the flavours were disappointing. Like Patricia below, I found the flavours did not complement one another. The actual proteins on the entrees were wonderful in and of themselves because they were of the highest quality and expertly prepared. But in each case the rest of the dish as a whole left all three of us flat. I can’t be quite as kind about the desserts, they were simply not good. The fig upside down cake was actually inedible. The service was excellent, we enjoyed our waiter and he was very attentive. But we found the pacing of the meal very slow. Sometimes this might be exactly what you want, but for us it was a work night and we didn’t like having to wait about an hour between the courses. It was a culinary experience that I enjoy having once in a long while, but there are so many restaurants that “just” serve delicious food that it will be a long time before I go back to Blacktree. I have been meaning to write a review since November. I hadn’t been to Julia’s in a while and my husband and I were looking for a restaurant to take some friends from Toronto. After reading the reviews I was a little skeptical and thought perhaps something had changed since we last there. We decided to take out friends there anyway (on Saturday November 20) and couldn’t have had a more pleasant dining experience. The staff was friendly, the food was delicious and the atmosphere was very good. We enjoyed it so much that my husband and I went back there for New Years and had another evening of wonderful food and a cozy table. The pasta itself was perfectly made and the sauces always compliment the dish! I had the Fusilli Rustica with Rose sauce. The service is phenomenal. Always friendly and they really know their dishes. The décor is light, airy, and inviting. Although there are TV screens on the wall, they are to display menu items, not to distract from dining with sports or news. The background music was middle-eastern, a bit loud at first, but then not intrusive at all. There is a specialty oven which uses a wood fire to bake the middle-eastern pizzas. The staff were friendly and helpful, and we even had a visit from the chef, who is also the owner. We had hummus for an appetizer, the falafel plate, mango juice, and cookies, all made on the premises. Everything was superb. The pita arrived fresh from the oven, looking like inflated volleyballs rather than flatbread. The falafel were generous, delicious, and hot. My only reservation was the amount of plastic used, but then items such as hummus were prepared for take-out and served to us immediately. And we did notice a good many people buy food for take-out. We are very glad this restaurant has opened, and will be sure to visit again. Read more

Superb service and food make this place somewhere to return again and again. Very attentive staff, excellent Italian dishes. I had the piping hot Minestrone vegetable soup and fresh fish of the day. The others had pasta or beef tenderloin. Everyone loved their meals. My only complaint was that my fish was to come with roasted potatoes and vegetables, but there was only one small half of a potato. Other than that, everything else was great, including dessert.
