Went to T.O Aug 9, 2010, wife & I had lunch here before the Paul McCartney concert. Small & cramped , but oh sooo good! I had the tempura bento , came with miso soup, 4 sashimi sushi, hot rice & sesame dressed salad. My wife had the teriyaki salmon, ( generous portion) bento, came with 8 tempura sushi & same sides. I live near Queen and Spadina and have had some difficulty with finding decent low-medium priced sushi. Toshi is across from where I take spin class and I noticed that the sign indicated that the chef was Japanese so I decided to try it out. I found the fish to be fresh, the restaurant to be clean and the service to be attentive. They service appropriately sized rolls and nigiri, as opposed to the giant pieces that many other establishments serve (this is a good think IMO). Overall, very good meal and I think I will be frequenting Toshi a great deal.

DonDon Izakaya is Toronto's own little taste of Japan. I once visited Tokyo on a business trip, and I remember going to this strange thing called an "izakaya" on several occasions. I remember my first time: I didn't understand why we couldn't just order our own dishes or why it had to be so loud! But by the end of the night, after several decanters of sake had been shared among our group, it all just seemed perfect. DonDon kinda feels this way too. The food may not be gourmet, but it's a ton of fun to eat! (I've heard that we shouldn't expect high-quality foods from izakayas since they are more like pubs anyway!) And the atmosphere is spot on. Oh, and don't even get me started on the drinks. I fell in love with sake in Japan and we've been reunited at DonDon. I've only been to DonDon once, but I'll definitely be going back again!

We had noticed this restaurant as we were walking downtown and decided to give it a try, best decision ever! When you walk in, the decor is amazing, they have a life-size figurine of a geisha and many ornamental items in the foyer. The waitress was pleasant and kind, attending to all of our needs. I got the sushi bento box meal and it only cost $7.99, it filled me up! The rice and sushi were incredible, and the fried vegetables were tasty. I was impressed with the wonderful service and amazing atmosphere. I would definitely return again!!

This restaurant is all about great value. The lunch combos with the rolls, salad, soup and dumplings or spring rolls is a fantastic deal. The sushi is decent, but the cooked food is horrible. Never buy any of that. The staff are not polite, but they aren't rude either. I don't mind that, and they are fast. This is a good place for some cheap sushi.

this is the first time i have ever decided to try out the actual authentic korean BBQ grilling experience instead of the canadian-nized all-you-can grill buffets and ohhh boy was it the best choice of my life! this place is not all you can eat so you only have a choice from eating one type of meat or the other but oh my gooodness, the meat here was sooo tender and juicy with sooooo much flavour to them! i swear to you this place serves up the best Galbi (beef short ribs) i have ever eaten and i'm sooo upset i didn't know about it soooner!! the Galbi here is ACTUAL MEAT, not the blubber stick of fat you'd find at other restaurants!
the special grilling dish costs about $40 between 2 people (so basically $20 each) and it is sooo worth it as the portions are sooo huge along with all those side dishes they give you (more than 5! which can be refilled whenever you want) with also a hot stone tofu soup on the side. this place will give you a run for your money! serving on the menu says only for 2 people but can definetly serve up to 4! there was so much stuff left over to eat but in the end i wasn't able to finish it. :( so if you're ever craving for real korean meat, come here! this place realizes QUALITY over QUAINTITY. yum!

This is a solid ramen shop. Their ramen boasts a simple sea salt base original, so if you're looking for tonkotsu I really don't think this is the place. Starting at $10.99, the bowl comes with some basic toppings and additional ones range from $1 to $3. The pork ramen bowls seem a tad larger, while the chicken appears smaller - I think it's just pork is heavier and makes the bowl feel tougher to consume.
