Wonderful restaurant and drinking establishment. I usually go there with my boyfriend but sometimes, late at night, when he is asleep, you can find me at Jax because that is where good friends meet. And I've met so many good friends like MJ and have recently got my hair extensions done by this beautiful woman who had carried around roses that entire evening. I went there once with my friend Claire, who was, at the time, struggling with her weight and needed assistance to get to the karaoke bar to sing 'Stand By Your Man' and no one mocked her obesity. The food there is great and it is full of great real people. I cannot highly recommended this place enough and when you come out on a Saturday night after making an easy 25 bucks, I'll have a place reserved for you at my table. We've always wanted to try this place out, so we finally did! We reserved a table for two online for 630, but we didn't end up getting there until just before 7. The maitre'd read our special instructions that was sent with our online reservation and seated us in a quiet corner at a bigger booth for just the two of us. Not that the place was loud or overly busy, but it was great that we were seated farther away from the rest of the crowds that were there and we were not forgotten about!
Since it was our first time there, our server showed us the menu and gave her suggestions. Some sounded tempting but we decided to go with our own choices. We both got steaks and got the Caesar salads to start. We also got bread with sweet butter and stuffed mushrooms.
We started off with Caesar salad and bread served. Then our stuffed mushrooms. Then came our steaks. One done medium the other done medium well. They were both beautifully cooked and we both enjoyed our loaded potatoes as well! Since we were there to celebrate, our server took care of us with a rich dessert - double chocolate brownie!
We enjoyed every part of our meal! The bread was a 7 grain bread, crisp on the outside, warm and light on the inside! The Caesar salad had a very nice garlic taste with a tiny kick. The steaks melted in your mouth and was easy to devour. The loaded potato (minus the chives) was nice and fluffy with lots of sour cream, cheese and bacon! And the dessert was an excellent addition!
We both got drinks from the bar as well throughout our meal - they were mixed decently, but felt it was a little too light on the alcohol.
All in all, our server was great, and never forgot about us, the maitre'd was excellent for our request. And we had a great first experience here. We'll definitely go again! Might I even say that its better than their competition? I believe so, but we'll have to see if they are just as great the second time around ;)

Great food, reasonable prices and great specials. Service is friendly but don't expect anything in a hurry. Each time we have been there, there were only two waitresses covering both bar and restaurant and did their best. Management should review staffing requirements!

I have taken my 8 year old daughter there on several occasions for supper. Every time we eat well, are treated well and get to relax and actually enjoy each others company. I love how the staff makes my daughter feel special by remembering her, using her name, actually talking to her and listening to her answers. On top of all that the food is delicious and affordable. Had seen this place from time to time, since I sometimes go through the Port on business and loved the comfortable charm it presented. This summer after a day of cherry picking, we ended up in Port Dalhousie and Murphy's seemed like the place to try.
We were so thirsty! They did the Long Island Ice Tea ... to a tee, and the food was fantastic. We had the surf and turf and a daily special and no one was disappointed.
We loved the atmosphere inside and enjoyed the patio for dinner that day. But this would be a very cosy visit for the winter months too! We will definitely be back!

Always a good time but sometimes food can be a let down. Chicken, meh....but the chicken wings are great. Pizza is a toss, excuse the pun but I've great nights and sadly don't like it nights. It can get really loud so be prepared if you are bringing the grandparents (they may want to turn down their hearing aids). It's kid friendly on one side and has obviously long time locals and party people on the bar side as well. A nice mix all around.

Went for their second night of opening. loved the menu selection. You could order different sizes of appetizers and meals. Had the Crab cakes and Black cod, my husband had the mushroom soup and steak, the food was flawless, the service was quick and attentive. Wine list was a little short but Owners state this is just the opening list more will be added. St Catharine's is lucky to have such a wonderful new restaruant. Come all foodies!
