My friends and I decided to visit Cambridge for an out-of-town getaway. We are all admitted food snobs (one is a chef), so we perused menus and reviews online before heading out (we're from the GTA). It was pretty busy on Friday night so I am glad we made reservations. We arrived and were seated by a very accommodating host (who we found out later was an owner), and served by one of the most pleasant servers I've ever encountered (perhaps his name was Josh?). Every single employee at that restaurant was happy to be at work, which may not sound important, but it is and is one of the gages I use when I'm dining out. My husband and I both worked in restaurants for years, and happy staff says a lot about the owners, chef and overall customer experience that the server is trying to sell. Josh spoke highly of the owner as well as proudly explained the food and the creativeness of the chef and his menu. The food was fresh, creative and delicious. We were really delighted. It wasn't a five-star dining experience (but you are not going in expecting that), rather, it is a twist on pub fare that will leave you pleasantly surprised. We also enjoyed that the restaurant was not 'full of itself', the staff, chef and owners were humble and grateful for any compliments and made us feel welcome and appreciated as diners at their restaurant. My friends and I were sold from the moment we walked in. So much so, that we went back for lunch the next day (it was a no-brainer) and the chef came out to say hi to us and thank us for coming back! We cannot say enough great things about our experience there. I strongly encourage anyone reading this to visit Cafe 13 and enjoy their great food and hospitality. Read more

Had the apple fritters to die for ... we loved it, after a long bike ride from Cambridge to Paris...it's just what the doctor ordered.. We were greeted and were welcomed as soon as we came in and this place is a little jem. Excellent fish and chips dinner! I had halibut and chips with tartar sauce, creamy coleslaw and pasta salad on the side. The servings were very generous. My piece of fish was huge and I had lots of tartar sauce to go with it. I didn't run out. I love the fries. They are just like the ones that my mom used to make. I love this place! Their sushi is actually DELICIOUS!!! I'm always full after I go here...in fact, I vomited once from being too full. I love that they have stamp cards!!! So fun!! Their signature 'hockey sushi' is seriously SLAMMIN!!! However, I discovered a fish bone in the sushi once...and upon closer inspection, I found out that the outer layer of the hockey sushi is actually fish skin! This turned me off! I wish I hadn't made that discovery because this roll is fantastic. The location is fairly remote... my GPS was going completely NUTS on the way here. We were happily surprised to see a full chalk board of specials. We are always excited about the specials because the chef there is so talented. They were quite busy but the service was exceptional as usual. This is at least the eleventh time or so we have been there. Breakfast is also really great. My husband is a big eater and he is always satisfied with his meal. The prices are fair, the food is amazing, and the people that work there are great. I have an allergy to gluten and it is so nIce to be able to enjoy a full corse meal at at fair price when we come to this place. I wish the chef could ,prepare food for me at home all the time. Also, the people that work there are super knowledgable about the food they serve. This place is fabulous and everyone should give it a go. Oh and great wine too! Read more

I’ve been coming here since they first opened.I have noticed changes in the food portions.Twice now I have ordered #140 Malaysian Seafood Laksa Rice Noodle Soup in extra-large.It is disappointing.The actual bowl itself is large enough to serve four people.The noodle portion can fill a small coffee mug, the entire bowl is just soup, or seasoned broth. After living in Mississauga for a few years, I always can't wait to be in KW for the Pho Ben Thanh's! Surprised to see reviews about inconsistency, they always exceed my expectations. I'll admit, when they first opened several years ago, some dishes would be made inconsistently, or different than other locations, but that all was resolved quickly. My favourites are Sweet and Sour Tamirand CHicken, Mango salad, Seafood Pad Thai, Grilled Chicken Vermichelli bowl, Pepper beef, Eggplant Chicken, Spring Rolls (Fried and fresh). I like to dine in with a bunch of people so you can order several dishes, and each get your own side of steamed rice to soak up the sauces from each dish. ALways fresh veggies, always great. Better food and selection than any viet-thai restaurant west of Toronto, definately. Oh, and don't forget to order a mango fruit shake, they are divine! Read more

They were so impressed with the Blackshop. We had intimate seating for the 6 of us. Several in our group ordered the eggs benedict and they were delicious! Eggs were perfectly poached. Threw us a bit...but our fault as we didn't check the price first :) Pretty nice wine, though. This is one of my favourite restaurants. I first was taken here by my father after he had been so impressed eating here at a business lunch. We haven't had a bad meal here ever. My favourite meal is always the eggplant parmesan. It has to be prepared ahead of time, so make to to mention when you make your reservation, if you want it. Food quality is always amazing. The owner is attentive, enthusiastic, and passionate about the food and service. The Cafe is small and cozy inside but has an outdoor patio to view the Rivers during warm seasons. The interior is decorated in a Parisian style and the atmosphere is very European. The Staff is friendly and helpful but very busy with a large number of customers looking for very few tables indoors. This is January and the patio is closed for dining. The Door to the scenic view is open however but a young boy with undisciplined parents kept hanging and swinging on the door rails causing the tempature in the back portion to plumit to an uncomportable temprature for some people. Thats the Parents Fault not the Cafe'. The food was well prepaired and excellent and left little room for the tempting deserts. I will visit Paris again and treat my family to this experiance once more. Read more
