I had the spicy sezchuan noodle bowl with beef and handmade noodles (D9). The noodles were chewy and delicious. The broth was flavourful. There was a good amount of tender pieces of beef in it. Also got some free chinese kimchi to start the meal, which was pretty good. All in all, a great meal and fair price. Will be back for sure!

Best Caribbean In Brantford
I’m a jerk.
At least that’s what I’d be if I went with the age old adage, “You are what you eat.” That’s because I just had the pleasure of dining on some of the most fantastic jerk I’ve ever taken a whiff of. It came from Someplace Else. I know, it sounds like a bad joke.
It is a real place though, just a short walk from campus down Dalhousie Street (across from the Expositor building.) It is home to some of Brantford’s finest Caribbean cuisine.
I decided on testing out the talents of the kitchen staff after reading their take out menu that boasted the best chicken in Brantford.
When I walked in the door there was little in the way of a warm welcome. There was no one around! I waited five minutes until I heard movement in the back. I went to the kitchen area to search for some help
“Can I get an order of jerk chicken please,” I said.
“Ya Mon,” said the perfectly accented Jamaican peeling potatoes. (Of course he said “Ya Mon,” I wouldn’t make that up. )
So my wait began. I sat at the bar and watched Judge Judy.
Judy and I spent seven minute together before my jerk was ready. I handed my ten dollar bill in exchange for the bagged Styrofoam box filled with an utterly enticing aroma. The box was coming with me. It’s called take out.
I bid the Jamaicans farewell and stepped out into the unseasonably warm October sun. I cantered down the street. Alright, it was more of a trot. I was hungry okay.
I found a table at work (I was early) and sat down to enjoy the jerk. I’d prepared myself with water since by definition jerk is muy caliente (that was the definition in my handy Spanish dictionary at least.) As I popped open the polystyrene package, a steamy cloud of jerk aroma wafted to my nostrils, where I took them in. My brain registered, “Yum.”
First of all, the colour was phenomenal. Rice with beans, a Jamaican-style coleslaw and a fabulously laid out hunk of perfectly seasoned and browned jerk chicken served up a meal for my eyes. I dug in.
My digging couldn’t come fast enough. “Where have you been all my life?” I asked the spicy chicken dish. It didn’t answer, so I ate it. Tender and moist is what comes to mind. More like perfectly tender and absolutely the juiciest chicken I’ve ever had (sorry Mom.) The spiciness ran circles around my tongue, enticing me to take a drink of high quality H20. It wasn’t too spicy though, and the rice and beans and coleslaw served as a perfect balance to the intense flavours of the chicken. I don’t even like coleslaw, but this was different.
I endeavoured to eat the entire serving, but it was too much. This is definitely a worthwhile meal for a student trying to make ends meet. Someplace Else offers a fantastic outlet for those inclined to trying and appreciating other nation’s foods. It’s an inexpensive meal packed full of flavor that will make your buds in the tongue department wake up from their grilled-cheese-induced slumber.
This is definitely a must have dish at Someplace Else.

I used to come here quite often when it was under different management. It was always good then and it is still good now. My fiance and I were looking for a good quick lunch, I had been here before so we decided to try it again. We were not dissapointed. The food was fresh, hot and cold where it should have been. Even the miso was tasty, some places make it too salty. The couple that runs the place were friendly and happy to help us. The tempura spicy crab roll was my favorite roll from the old menu, I couldn't find it on the new menu but when I asked they said they could make it for me no problem. The food was made right in front of us and it was ready quick, we barely had to wait more than 10 minutes.
It is a small shop, room for only 4 or 5 people to sit down so it is food to take home if you have a big party of people, but you wont regret it. The shop is clean and the ingredients are fresh. The service is friendly and the menu is easy to read and easy to use.

Had the Jacs sub for dinner last night. The Jalapeno cheese bread is Fantastic, there was lots of meat and tasted very fresh. Toppings and sauces were all free and they have a grill which I prefer over just toasting. Great staff and the new owner is very friendly. Will be back again to try the shack.

This is such a comfy cozy place, and has free wireless internet access. I come here a lot for coffee, serve myself, stand at the counter to pay, and read the paper while I sit right by the window to drink it.
I ate there once, but I can't remember what I had. It was expensive. I don't think I'd eat there again because nothing on the menu really appealed to me. Even the baked goods look kind of bland and overpriced.

Found your restaurant online when searching for good places to eat in oakville. We stopped in for lunch just after 1 p.m. saturday. while there was a bit of a line,mit moved quickly and we were soon seated. On recommednation of a friend as well as restaurantica reviews we decided to try Speekezzies for a mid week meal. We were promplty (and pleasantly) seated is this family establishment. Alot of selection on the menu but what sparked our interest was the lamb chop special. We asked to substitue the mashed potatoes for homemade ricotta gnocchi - lovely and flavorful- upgrade charges applied. Service was fine - nothing omitted. wine portions were a little small for value but everything else made up for that. Decor could use an update to perhaps draw a differnt clientele as return customers. However, it was adequate for us and we will definately return.

Family owned and serving the community since 1993....the only place that can display on their menu; NO-MSG. I always drive there for the pick-up special prices. I love the new decor! My husband and I shared the Warm Salad special, which was fantastic. I had the Duo of Duck and my husband tried the special which was Beef Cheek. Both were really, really good. We ordered a nice bottle of wine, which was very reasonably priced. Service was attentive and professional, with just enough friendliness. We will definitely be back.
