So a bunch of us finally headed down to the Blue Canoe for dinner. A few had been there before, and a few hadn't, but we always go and critique places together. Absolutely loved the atmosphere, not a detail was spared in the design of the restaurant. The real tester is of course the food, and it did not disappoint. They've thrown together some amazing flavours and clearly taken some chances that have worked out in their favour. The Drummettes....I don't eat chicken wings anywhere, but these ones were in a soy sauce of some sort that was fantastic!! The BBQ Salmon was probably the best salmon that I've ever had at a restaurant....not overcooked like most places. So much flavour. That was it for me, but others had a wide variety of food and rave reviews on all counts. A few questions on the sides that they came with, but generous portions and smiles all around. They say they cook authentic Malaysian food; well I can verify this, however, I can say that I love every dish on their menu. They were voted 'Best Other Asian Restaurant' in 2008 and 'Best South East Asian Restauranr' in 2009. I think this alone says a lot. Read more

I recently visited this (new?) location with my friends and much to my joy the service was cool and attractive and the server was attentive... In other words, very good!! The food was good to above average and well cooked! tasty Chicken, and I special ordered melting cheese. Being a fan of inventive food, I will probably return to this location just for that but would definitely take a drive here also to satisfy my appetite for eye candy. I really liked it although the cheese was kinda salty and after a while. I would definitly go again, the waitresses were really cute but kinda old. Read more

Well, what can I say. I fell in love with my now husband on a first date here! The atmosphere was warm, the servers were attentive, and the food and wine was amazing! We enjoyed many of the tapas plates. Great value and very tasty! If you know the area, it is very close to shops on Robson Street, yet still tucked away in its own little private location. Hate the wait but love the food. If you come at 10pm on a Saturday still a 10 minutes wait. I have been here a couple of times before and always excellent. The meatballs in tomato sauce just amazing. We had the zucchini and rabbit pasta dishes and both so good. Cooked just al dente, good amount of flavour and just enough coating of sauce. Very good selection of by glass or bottle wines. I had their bacon wrapped chicken which was prepared just right. The bacon was crispy and the chicken very moist. As you wander along Robson Street this is a popular Japanese restaurant that has been here for awhile. Reservations highly recommended. The assorted tempera was excellent, nicely battered, and we tried various appetizers such as gomae, liver, fried fish, clam soup, edaname, tofu, Saba shiroyaki, salmon belly. The restaurant was near the hotel, and a friend of mine recommended us to go, so we did. First, we were a big party, but we didn't had to wait for a table. Service wasn't bad, but there are things that i would change, the waitress refilled every drink when she wanted without asking and without saying that the refill wasn't free. Over to the food, it was well cooked, as ordered, tasty and it was worth the price, the amounts where for grown up adults, not for kids like in most places. As we where a big party, the only table that was available for us, was at the bar, but the ambience was good, the music level was bearable. Read more
